The YMCA has a new charity shop in Chelmsford, situated in Market Road. The shop is run by a team of staff and volunteers, and sells a wide range of items at very reasonable prices including adults’ and children’s clothes, books, toys, games, collectables and furniture.
Funds raised by YMCA England shops go towards helping important areas of YMCA work including giving young people a safe place to stay, creating healthy and active communities, supporting pupils in education and providing training and skills for life.
What we sell
YMCA shops sell clothing, books, CDs, DVDs, shoes, bric-a-brac and new goods. Many of our shops also sell furniture.
More than just charity shops
We are more than just a group of charity shops; we add value to economic regeneration and impact positively on individuals and communities, in building volunteering skills, creating local information hubs for customers and recycling tonnes of textiles and other materials.
We have over 1200 volunteers in YMCA shops around the country. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and include students who want to contribute to the community, people who are retired and have some time to spare, and young people who want to gain retail experience to improve their CV. Please call in if you have some time to spare and would like a volunteering opportunity.
