YMCA Essex Childcare Services was awarded Good by Ofsted on 27 September 2018.
As a result of our 2018 inspection, we received great feedback on how our staff were found to be nurturing and have built secure bonds with children and form strong partnerships with parents and guardians. Read more in the full Ofsted report.
The Day Nursery is conveniently located in Victoria Road, Chelmsford, close to the train station, bus station and the town centre. We are open from 7:30am – 6:00pm.
We have three rooms: Baby Bears (3 months – under 2 years), Busy Bears (2 – under 3 years) and Bright Bears (3 – under 5 years). All our children are cared for by professional and trained staff, meeting all Ofsted requirements in accordance with the Children Act 1989. All three childcare groups use the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
We provide formula milk and nappies in our Baby Bears Unit; the cost of these is included in the nursery fees as are all meals, which are cooked in our own kitchen. We require a £25 registration fee, plus the first month’s deposit and a 2 week holding fee.

Busy Bears
In Busy Bears the day to day programme encourages your child to explore and experiment, having had a series of visits first to become familiar with both staff and children. Outings are very much part of our routine for all the children.
Bright Bears
Bright Bears encourages every child to discover pre-school skills through play. Our curriculum is aimed at giving each child the confidence he/she needs when starting school and is carefully tailored to each child’s age and ability.

Menus
Our latest Sticky Paws menus will be available to download soon. Our menu works on a 4 weekly basis and provides a healthy balanced diet for your children.
